AWS Data Engineer (IoT & Data)

We are looking for an AWS Data Engineer to work on our IoT and Data Platform projects. Depending on the project, we work with scripts and small programs for streaming processing, building APIs and backends with Django and FastAPI, or processing data with Spark and other technologies.

You will likely learn many things. We use the AWS IoT suite, MQTT, Kafka, multiple Lambdas, ECS, EventBridge, DynamoDB, relational databases, Terraform,Terragrunt…

All that matters to us is that you are passionate about Python, data, and “tinkering” (cacharreo). 100% of the GALEO team uses Python in their daily lives; it is already part of the common stack for data engineers, data scientists, IoT engineers, systems, web developers…

What you will do on a daily basis

• Software development and data pipelines using advanced Python to create robust applications and workflows.
• Design and implementation of serverless and event-driven architectures making intensive use of AWS Lambda and EventBridge.
• Implementation and management of container-based services (Amazon ECS, Fargate).
• Deployment of components using Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• Requirements gathering, client interaction, and design of tailored cloud solutions.

Key Requirements

• More than 3 years of experience in pure Python development (writing modular, scalable, and clean code).
• Strong command of the AWS ecosystem, especially serverless architectures (AWS Lambda, EventBridge, ECS, DynamoDB).
• Experience building data processing pipelines.
• Advanced use of Kafka for real-time data ingestion and streaming.
• Solid knowledge of SQL, database design, and data modeling.

Bonus Points If

• Extensive experience with Spark.
• Experience in streaming data processing using Apache Flink.
• Knowledge of workflow orchestration with Airflow.
• Experience building APIs and backends with frameworks such as Django or FastAPI.
• Excellent communication skills and enjoyment of teamwork.
