Business Intelligence Platform for Renewables

THE CHALLENGE

The renewable energy sector in Spain is characterised by high administrative complexity and dispersed critical information. Project development requires overcoming a strict sequence of administrative milestones (Grid access request, Environmental Impact Assessment, Prior and Construction Administrative Authorisations, etc.).

The company faced the difficulty of identifying and comprehensively tracking renewable energy developments in progress. The necessary information to characterise the status of each project was fragmented and ‘hidden’ in heterogeneous official publications (BOE and bulletins from 17 autonomous communities), making it difficult to take strategic decisions in the M&A and financial services context.

THE SOLUTION

GALEO developed Proyecto Sariego, an MVP (Minimum Viable Product) business intelligence platform designed to automate the tracking, processing, and analysis of official publications.

The solution implements an intelligent workflow that transforms unstructured data into valuable information:

  1. Mass Ingestion: A scraping system monitors and extracts daily publications from the BOE and regional bulletins (BOCYL, BOJA, BOCM, etc.) in various formats (XML, JSON, HTML).
  2. Intelligent Filtering: Pre-filtering based on synonym dictionaries and Relevance Score algorithms to isolate only information relevant to the renewable sector.
  3. Generative AI Processing: The core of the solution uses Large Language Models (LLM), specifically advanced versions such as Claude, to interpret complex administrative language, extracting key entities and processing states.
  4. Exploitation: Structured information is served via a REST API feeding an administration panel and a query website, allowing projects to be visualised on interactive maps and their exact phase to be known (from ‘Future Analysis’ to ‘Project in Execution’ or ‘Finalist’).

  • Automated Characterization: Obtaining exhaustive information to classify each project according to its administrative phase (ACE, AAP, DIA, AAp, AAc).
  • Competitive Advantage: The tool facilitates the early detection of investment opportunities and competitor analysis by visualizing data such as land location, developer, and commercial interest status.
DATA AND PROCESSING WORKFLOW: From Official Publication to Structured Data

To overcome regulatory complexity, an automated scraping system handles the daily extraction of publications from the BOE and 16 regional gazettes. After an initial filtering process, a Generative AI agent (Claude) interprets the complex administrative language to extract key entities (developer, capacity, location) and assign their processing status. This core engine transforms weeks of manual labor into a structured, updated record in seconds.

ANALYTICAL WORKFLOW: Actionable Regulatory Intelligence

The structured data generated by the agent is served via a REST API to an administration panel for the operational tracking of each project. This model provides a strategic advantage, allowing funds and developers to instantly identify opportunities or regulatory risks. Furthermore, the accumulated historical data enables the identification of bottleneck patterns and the modeling of average lead times. Sariego is not just a tracking tool; it is the foundation upon which to build predictive intelligence for the Spanish renewable market.
