THE CHALLENGE

An engineering firm specialising in solar energy and energy management projects, was at a key strategic transformation moment. Its goal was to evolve its portfolio from physical products to digital solutions, improving internal processes and adding intelligence to its installations.

The main challenge was integrating the heterogeneous communications of meters and photovoltaic equipment (inverters, batteries) to achieve not just data reading, but the ability to write parameters. The company needed to move from passive monitoring to active and autonomous management, capable of establishing real-time energy scenarios based on generation, consumption, and energy price.

THE SOLUTION

GALEO accompanied them through this digital transformation by developing a comprehensive IoT solution covering everything from data acquisition to visualisation for the end customer. The solution is structured around three fundamental pillars:

  1. IoT Development & Remote Management: A system capable of automatically discovering devices at installations and connecting them securely to the cloud (onboarding with ZTA/TLS). The platform not only ingests telemetry and alarms, but enables remote writing, facilitating configurations and OTA updates on the hardware.
  2. Energy Scenario Automation: The system allows defining automatic action logics. Based on energy price and charge state, the system decides whether to store surpluses in batteries, inject into the grid, or charge electric vehicles, guaranteeing near real-time dynamic power control.
  3. Visual Analysis Tools & Customer Web Interface:
  4. For Operations: dynamic dashboards to supervise electricity contracting (prices, maximum demand), maintenance (communication status, manufacturer-standardised alarms), and energy efficiency (network quality, reactive energy).
  5. For End Customers: an interactive webpage where users can visualise their energy balance, receive notifications, and configure their own saving scenarios.
