Kordat: The Spanish Music Data Space

THE CHALLENGE

The music industry in Spain generates and manages enormous volumes of critical data daily: from the creation and distribution of songs to the complex management of copyrights and audience analysis.

However, historically, all this information has been heavily fragmented and siloed across multiple platforms, formats, and disconnected actors.

This fragmentation causes a serious lack of transparency, generates duplications, delays payments to creators, and limits the ability of artists, labels, promoters, and management entities to make informed decisions or capitalise on new business opportunities in a global market.

THE SOLUTION

GALEO participated in the technological development of KORDAT, the first major Spanish Music Data Space. It is a collaborative environment designed to integrate and connect information from the entire industry value chain in a shared, secure and legal space.

The platform works by collecting information from different sources, integrating it under common rules and interoperability standards. This allows artists, labels, management entities, platforms, and promoters to share data in a controlled and secure manner, generating a trust and collaboration ecosystem.

The solution stands out for its modular design (based on hexagonal architecture principles) and the pioneering use of data sharing technologies aligned with European standards.

• Data Sharing & Trust: Federated network based on IDS/IDSA RAM 4.0 with certified connectors (Eclipse Dataspace Components) for secure and interoperable exchange with European ecosystems.
• Governance and Policies: DCAT standards for asset description and ODRL for machine-readable digital contracts with real-time rule enforcement.
• Comprehensive Security: Keycloak, OPA, and DID:web for identity management via Verifiable Credentials, with no central authority dependence and cryptographic traceability of each transaction.
