Netflix-Style EdTech Platform for Vocational Training
The Challenge
The Vocational Training (VT) and university education sector faced the urgent need to modernise the teaching of transversal skills (employability, entrepreneurship, sustainability). Existing resources tended to be theoretical and poorly engaging, and traditional LMS platforms lacked adapted content and competency-based assessment tools.
The challenge was to develop a digital solution capable of transforming educational modules into interactive and compelling learning experiences (“Netflix-style”), aligned with official frameworks such as EntreComp and the UN SDGs, and scalable enough to serve more than 1 million VT students in Spain while expanding into the EU and Latin America.
The Solution
GALEO has developed a cloud-native SaaS platform that integrates pedagogical content with Artificial Intelligence.
The solution is defined by an interactive and automated approach:
- Interactive Learning Experience: A web platform accessible from any device, offering educational modules enriched with project-based activities and simulations — replacing obsolete theoretical methods.
- Automated Assessment with AI: Implementation of tools that automate the teacher’s grade book, linking student activities directly to official learning outcomes and drastically reducing administrative burden.
- Scalable SaaS Model: The infrastructure requires no local installation at educational centres. It is managed entirely in the cloud to guarantee high availability, remote support, and automatic scalability during demand peaks.

Designed for initial deployment across more than 150 vocational training centres and Entrepreneurship Classrooms, the project projects significant impacts on educational quality and operational efficiency:

- Backend & Compute: Django REST APIs containerised on Amazon EKS (Kubernetes).
- Data: Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL as the relational database and Amazon S3 for digital asset storage and AI-generated resources.
- Security: Identity management with AWS IAM and Amazon Cognito; perimeter protection with AWS WAF.
